Eames DCW (Dining Chair Wood) in Walnut Finish

The beautiful Designer chair the Eames dining chair wood or Eames DCW is a fine example of mid century furniture design. The group of elegant looking bent plywood chairs which included the Eames chair LCW was based on the designs and technology developed with Eero Sarinen for their Museum of Modern Art Entry in 1939. However it was 7 years later in 1946 that both Charles and Ray managed to develop the design sufficiently to be able to mass produce it.

History of the Eames DCW

After experimenting with plywood during WWII Charles and Ray Eames set about designing an inexpensive high quality wooden chairs that could be mass produced
The Eames DCW was first produced by the Herman Miller company in 1946, In that same year the designer chairs were featured in an exhibition at the Museum of modern art

Construction of the Eames DCW

Our version of this beautiful piece of designer furniture is true to the original design as possible. Constructed from moulded Beech plywood the seat and the back rest are joined by what the Eames's termed shock mounts made from rubber and metal. The techniques developed during the design of the LCW has led to a range of bent plywood chairs including the LCM, DCM, DCW, Eames lounge chair 671 and ottoman 672 and Arne Jacobsen's Series 7 chair.
