Back in 1950 Charles and Ray Eames revolutionised both furniture design and manufacturing with there range of moulded fibreglass chairs. Not afraid to experiment with new materials the husband and wife team set about producing a variety of 1 piece shapes including the Eames RAR ,Eames DSR and Eames DSW Chair and similar in design to the wire Eames wire DKR Chair. History of the DSR Chair

The revolutionary design and materials used in the Eames DSR chair were immediately recognised with a 1948 winning entry in the New York Museum of Modern art low cost design competition. Although initially produced in fibreglass it is now more commonly available in bright coloured polypropayene which is far easier to recycle and is often termed the Eames plastic chair. The ergonomic comfortable seat shell was amongst the first unlined plastic chair to be mass produced.

Construction of the Eames DSR

Based on the classic Eames design of the 1950s ergonimically moulded polypropylene seat shell available in 6 colours. The ABS seat is injection moulded to fit the contours of the human body. The beautiful curves of the seat shell is supported by the sharpe contrast of the bent and welded chromed wire rods, which is similar to the Eames DKR chair and affectionately termed the Eiffel base.
